MAC Launches Its First Mosque Vaccination Popup Clinic with Peel Public Health

,

MISSISSAUGA- April 24th, 2021: The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) appreciates the efforts of the Ontario Government and the provincial Public Health units to ensure vaccinations get to Ontarians that need them most.

Since the beginning of the pandemic MAC has worked closely with the government to educate the community, consult on public policy, and provide service and support to our community. As the province initiated rollout of vaccinations, MAC presented proposals to multiple public health units offering the use of our Mosques from Windsor to Ottawa.

MAC is pleased to announce its partnership with Peel Public Health and the Ontario government to use its location, the Islamic Community Centre of Ontario (ICCO), as a vaccination pop up clinic in Peel Region in the city of Mississauga, Ontario. The site will be open to the general public for those aged 18 and over in hot spot postal codes but will be the first to provide privacy accommodations to Muslim women. The details on registration for vaccination appointments at our Mosque will be released soon.

MAC would like to thank Premier Doug Ford, MPP Kaleed Rasheed, Dr. Lawrence Loh, Mayor Bonnie Crombie and Mayor Patrick Brown for implementing vaccination popup sites at places of worship in Peel to help provide an effective and equitable COVID-19 vaccination rollout in communities disproportionately affected by the pandemic.

Alhamdulilah, MAC has been actively engaged in  pandemic response using its nation wide network and resources to promote public education that is fact-based, multilingual, and culturally competent so no one is left behind. MAC also launched a comprehensive website of COVID-19 resources and Islamic opinion on vaccination at www.macnet.ca/covid19.
