MISSISSAUGA- April 12, 2021: The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) emphasizes the holistic message of Islam within the context of Canada’s diverse society.

As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, MAC sends greetings to the Muslim community in Canada and all over the world. We pray that this Ramadan, Allah (SWT) blesses you and your families. Following the announcement of The Fiqh Council of North America which adopts the criteria of the European Council of Fatwa and Research (ECFR), MAC has announced that Tuesday, April 13, 2021 will be the first day of Ramadan 1442 Hijri and Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Thursday, May 13, 2020.

With the grace of Allah (SWT) our MAC Mosques and centers will be open in accordance with the public health directives in each province and city during the blessed month of Ramadan. As we commence the second Ramadan in the pandemic, we encourage our communities to continue to be safe, maintain physical distancing, follow the public health guidelines and get the vaccination when possible, for the safety of everyone. Our focus this Ramadan will be on the universality of our message and the importance of the Ummah to achieve that, through the theme “One Ummah: Inheritors of a Universal Message.”

Allah (SWT) says in the holy Quran,

إِنَّ هَٰذِهِ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُونِ

Verily, this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore, serve Me (and no other). [Quran 21:92]

This Ramadan we are so excited to share holistic virtual and in-person programming available to all our community members from coast to coast. To stay connected and up to date visit our MAC national events page at macnet.ca/events or follow us at @MACNational, facebook.com/MACNational and youtube.com/macchanneltv .

MAC wishes our communities across Canada a blessed Month of Ramadan. May Allah (SWT) accept all your deeds.

تقبل الله منكم صالح الأعمال في رمضان “
